Legacy Farm
The Schloneger Family; Shell Lake, WI
Legacy Farms is a multigenerational dairy built on sustainability, for the land, the
animals, and the community. Founded in 1976 by Rodney and Brenda Schloneger
with just 20 cows, the farm has grown into a thriving operation southwest of Shell Lake,
Wisconsin.
In 2024, the next generation took the lead: brothers Rueben, John, and Noah, along
with their wives Emma, Sarah Anne, and Olivia. Though leadership has passed on, the
farm’s values remain the same, family-run, quality-driven, and focused on the future.
Today, Legacy Farms milks 1,350 Holsteins, prioritizing quality over volume. The cows
enjoy a homegrown diet, with most of their forage raised right on the farm, so the
family knows exactly what goes into every bite.
As proud partners of Burnett Dairy Cooperative, the Schlonegers are committed to
producing milk for award-winning cheese and dairy products. For them, sustainability
isn’t just a practice, it’s a responsibility carried through generations.
